Recording responsibility
TAD-POL is a personal productivity tool that transcribes audio recordings you provide. You are solely responsible for ensuring that any recording you make complies with all applicable laws in your state, country, and the location where recording takes place.
Recording laws vary significantly by jurisdiction:
- Two-party (all-party) consent states — ALL parties to a conversation must consent before it may be recorded. Examples include California, Florida, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Washington state. Recording without consent in these jurisdictions is a crime.
- One-party consent states — Only the person doing the recording must consent. This is the standard under U.S. federal law and most U.S. states.
- Other countries — Canada, the UK, EU member states, and other jurisdictions have their own rules. Requirements may differ for personal use vs. commercial use or distribution.
It is your responsibility to know and follow the laws that apply to you and to the people you record. TAD-POL is not responsible for any unlawful recording you make or any consequences that result. This is not legal advice — consult a lawyer for your specific situation.
Data handling
TAD-POL processes your audio as follows:
- Your recordings are downloaded from your Dropbox account to our transcription server for processing.
- Audio is transcribed and analyzed using third-party AI services (OpenAI Whisper and OpenAI GPT models).
- The resulting transcript and analysis are stored in a database we control (Google Cloud BigQuery), and action items are pushed to your Google Tasks account.
- Your original audio is deleted from our server immediately after transcription. We do not store your audio permanently.
- Transcripts and extracted data are stored encrypted in Google Cloud under our account. TAD-POL administrators may access this data for support, billing, or legal purposes.
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
Limitation of liability
TAD-POL is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Any actions you take based on AI-generated transcripts, action items, or insights.
- Errors, omissions, or inaccuracies in transcriptions or AI analysis.
- Any legal consequences arising from recordings you make.
- Loss of data, service interruptions, or downtime.
Your use of TAD-POL constitutes your agreement to these terms.
